Art Africa Fair 2017 Vernissage

[This exhibition explores the fragile yet enduring pertinent attitudes of our time, as engaged by artists through paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, videos, installations, performances and mixed media. These are contemporary artists whose creative and intellectual quest is the continuous wrestling with various themes ranging from the personal, social, political to cultural, aesthetics.

Artworks on show render A Flagrant Arcade an internal space that coordinates the external, a site concerned with the subtleties of current euphoria, beauty and pleasure without eclipsing those human experiences and social predicaments that are disquieting.

The interest is in artworks that explore creative languages and innovative uses of mediums, genres and materials in ways that yield shifts in contemporary art. A particular focus is on artworks whose evolution resides on the constant advancement of innovative artistic interventions implicated with reflections and appreciation of everyday livelihoods and ordinary practices.

Such a curatorial duologue is an explorative exercise enabled by artist expressions of visual and performance artists whose work endows A Flagrant Arcade with meaning and value.]
